Mechanical Engineering Technologists Specific Skills
- Prepare and interpret engineering design, drawings, and specifications,
- Prepare standards and schedules,
- Test machines and equipment,
- Design tools, moulds, jigs and fixtures,
- Estimate costs and materials
Mechanical Engineering Technicians Specific Skills
- Assist in inspection of mechanical installations and construction,
- Assist in the design of moulds, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures,
- Participate in machinery installation, repair and maintenance,
- Assist in preparing design, drawings and specifications
- Research feasibility, operation, performance and design considerations of the components for new product lines
- Review current product designs, suggest improvements, and provide guidance to product designers and production staff.
- Develop quality control protocols, train quality control staff on implementations, and inspect quality control stations to verify compliance with protocols.
