Houston Landscapes Ltd. is seeking a Landscaping Supervisor/Assistant Foreman for its location in North Vancouver,BC. It’s a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position, $30.00/hour paid on a bi-weekly basis. Overtimecompensation is based on the current BC Employment Standards Act (1.5 times the regular wage paid if the dailyhours exceed 8 hours or the weekly hours exceed 40 hours).

Job duties:
• Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of ground maintenance workers;• Assign duties to the workers and train and mentor new employees;• Oversee and assist in the planning and constructing landscaped environments, including all ornamental trees,shrubs, flowers, lawns and softscape features;• Oversee and assist in the planting residential and commercial lawns and gardens;• Oversee and assist in the installation of paving stone patios, walkways, driveways, ponds and water features and inthe installation of flagstone and other natural stone patios, walkways, and pool decks;• Oversee and assist in the installation of Retaining Wall systems, including Allan Block, Drystack Basalt, Pisa, and 4.6Pressure Treated Wood;• Organize and oversee the excavation of sites and grades;• Layout sites using laser levels and other equipment;• Repair and maintain landscape equipment and ensure all safety standards are upheld at all times.
Location of employment: Vancouver Mainland
Requirements:• Must have completed high school;• Must have a valid drivers license and be comfortable driving Tractor and Pick-up truck;• Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Ground Maintenance Worker or Landscaper;• Must have the ability to supervise 5 – 10 people;• Must have an understanding of plant material, soil types, irrigation systems, pest control, and landscapeconstruction methods;• Must be willing to work in all weather conditions. Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity,Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling;• Must be Team player, Client focus, Excellent oral communication;• Must be able to speak, read and write in English;
