Job requirements

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Own Tools/Equipment: Cellular phone

Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Drug test, Driver’s validity licence check, driving record check (abstract)

Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods, willing to travel internationally, valid driver’s licence, willing to travel overnight

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads, physically demanding, Sitting

Work Location Information: Willing to relocate

Personal Suitability: Team player, excellent written communication, excellent oral communication

Additional Skills: Address customers’ complaints or concerns, Mountain driving expertise

Communication Systems Experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

Documentation Knowledge: Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Trans-border documentation, Trip reports, Maintenance and repair reports

Specific Skills:

Load and unload goods, Perform preventive maintenance, Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Perform brake adjustments, Perform emergency roadside repairs, Transport and handle dangerous goods, Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption, Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Receive and relay information to central dispatch, Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Transportation/Travel Experience: National, International, Regional, Long-haul

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer B train, Tractor-trailer

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver’s License (Class 1 or A), Defensive Driving Course
